I’m surprised more people don’t comment about Whedon’s use of binary opposition on the show. The Master (an old vampire into religion and ritual) was the exact opposite of his successor Spike (a young vampire into rebellion and impulse) Buffy was the opposite of Faith. So it makes perfect sense Kennedy would be the polar opposite of Tara. That’s how the series works.
