My favorite relationship on the show is the Buffy/Dawn/Joyce relationship.
I am a proud and passionate Catholic, and when I told one of my Catholic friends about Buffy, she told me that she didn’t think well of the show because of the paganism and portrayal of demons. And that got me thinking: Maybe Buffy does have some sacrilegious stuff in it, but almost nothing has taught me more about love, death, sacrifice, friendship, and family, all of which the Church would approve of. Now, I just feel bad for my Catholic friend, because she will never learn those amazing lessons the way I did.
Spoiler Warning. I’m pro-choice but I think the whole Buffy wanting an abortion detracts from her character. On the show she was adamant on family. When Tara’s family demanded she come home and when there was a chance she was part-demon, Buffy insisted Tara was family. And Dawn was not Buffy’s sister but Buffy looked past that and accepted her as family. Buffy was constantly about family. Why would she suddenly change now? And about her not wanting to risk her child, there’s adoption.
I wish we had learned more about Xander, Willow and Giles’ families.
“Family” (season 5) has a special place in my heart because of who I watched it with.
My family and friends have always tried to make me feel silly for how much Buffy influenced me as a teenager and yet to this day, as a 25 year old woman, I refuse to let them get to me. Buffy was and is my hero.
As an only child, I’m jealous I’ll never have a relationship like Buffy and Dawn’s.
I get truly offended and hurt when some of my very good and close friends don’t understand, or ridicule of my love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It feels like they are making fun of one of my family members.
