I love re-watching the series. I cry every time at the same episodes. I hate watching The Body. But I also love it. I always watch it with a different perspective from the changes I have gone through. This is my favorite show of all time.

I don’t really like Xander. It didn’t seem like he changed very much throughout the seven seasons. I usually found him annoying, whiny, and not very funny. He seemed to feel like he was entitled to certain things (like female attention), and I didn’t like how judgmental he was of his female friends’ love lives. He just seems like a typical “nice guy” who THINKS he’s nice but actually is kind of a jerk.

When I first started watching Buffy, I only had access to Seasons 1-3, and 4 episodes of Season 6. It left me with a lot of questions: where did Oz and Angel go; when did we meet Tara; wait, Buffy died again, when did that happen? etc. Then I started reading the comic books without seeing anything past those episodes and I cried when my dad told me that Tara was dead and Willow couldn’t bring her back. I’m glad Netflix has all the episodes available, otherwise I wouldn’t know what I know now.

It sucks that SMG doesn’t seem to even like her own fandom. I understand growing up and wanting to break out, but you never see or hear anything about her and the Buffyverse/Whedonverse. It makes me really sad, and I secretly judge her for it.

I never really accepted Dawn as being part of Buffy’s life. The 5th season’s plot was interesting but after that I found Dawn’s presence way too weird to actually enjoy her character.

Much as I love Joss Whedon I always hated the way he took the easy way out when he no longer wanted to explore a relationship; Riley and Buffy (she never made it in time for them to have a conversation and actually formally break up or even reconcile); Anya and Xander (killing Anya off as they were beginning to have an actual conversation on the many elephants in the room); with probably the worst: Angel and Buffy (making everyone lose their memories when Angel makes his decision so that Buffy wouldn’t have to go through the painful but overwhelmingly necessary developing process of adjusting to and learning to be without Angel).

Even though I’ve already watched all of Buffy, and seasons 1-3...

I grew up with this show and sure I am happy that there are new fans from the last couple of years, but I believe that deep inside they will never truly be fans because they will never have that suspense of waiting a week for the next episode or 6 months for a new season.
